How to Enroll in the Indian Army?

There are 5 gateways to enter the Indian Army and here in this article, we are going to brief you about various mediums to enroll in the Indian Army:

  1. NDA: UPSC Conducts the NDA entrance exam twice a year. Candidates who have completed their 12th can apply for the NDA entrance exam which includes written tests and an SSB interview.

  2. Technical Entry Scheme: 10+2 passed candidates can apply for Lieutenant rank by applying in the Indian Army through Technical Entry Scheme. The candidates selected through this scheme will be enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering course and will be trained for 4 years.

  3. CDS Examination: UPSC conducts Combined Defence Service Examination twice a year. Candidates who have completed their graduation (bachelor's degree) or appearing in the last year of the course can apply for this exam to get selected for training in the IMA, AFA, Naval Academy or OTA to get appointed as a permanent commission official or short-commission official.

  4. Army Cadet College (ACC): ACC is an institution that trains defense aspirants to serve in the Indian Army and other defense forces of India. Candidates who have completed their 10+2 and are aged between 20 to 27 years are eligible to apply for ACC Recruitment. After the recruitment, they get trained for 3 years after which they get their graduation degrees. Once they complete their training successfully, they receive a year of pre-commission training at IMA Dehradun.

  5. Short Service Commission (Technical) Entry Every year Indian Armed Forces invite applications for India Army SSC Technical Entry. These entries are open for unmarried male and female engineering graduates including widows of the Indian Armed Forces and also for widows of IAF Defense Personnel. Candidates who fall under the age slab of 20 years to 27 years can apply for the Indian Army SSC Technical Entry (For widows of IAF Defense personnel, the upper age limit is 35 years).
